In a case that has rocked Chinese social media, the Nanjing Jiangning District Public Security Bureau has revealed that a 38-year-old man named Jiao posed as a woman to lure dozens of unsuspecting men into sexual encounters. His targets? A wide range—from students and gym-goers to married men and even foreigners.
What’s more disturbing: these encounters were secretly recorded without the victims’ consent and then leaked or sold online.
The explicit footage was being distributed on Chinese platforms at shockingly low prices—ranging from just 0.5 to 3 yuan (roughly $0.07 to $0.40). In some cases, the videos were shared for free in exchange for social media clout, followers, or to promote services like photoshoots and livestreams. One seller bluntly confessed, “I just bought them cheap and resold them. Some weren’t even full versions—just enough to make money.”
Legal experts are sounding the alarm. Distributing such content without consent is a serious offense under Chinese criminal law and could lead to hefty fines, jail time, or full-scale criminal prosecution. Health authorities are also stepping in, investigating whether Jiao knowingly exposed partners to sexually transmitted infections. If proven, he could face sentences ranging from 3 years to life in prison—or even the death penalty, depending on the outcome.
What makes this case even more chilling is that Jiao didn’t rely on threats or blackmail. Instead, he manipulated emotions—offering what seemed like an easy, no-strings-attached connection, creating a false sense of trust before carrying out his plan.
